Resources to Plan a Successful Event
We understand and appreciate the hard work involved in organizing a successful event. Our Conference Bureau team has made it easier for you by compiling a comprehensive list of the resources and services that will help you plan your next meeting, conference or MCIT program in the Northwest Territories.

The Foreign Convention and Tour Incentive Program (FCTIP)
The Foreign Convention and Tour Incentive Program (FCTIP) is a rebate program administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The program provides GST/HST rebates to convention sponsors, organizers and exhibitors, for the GST/HST paid on certain properties and/or services used during conventions held in Canada. If you are a non-resident visitor to Canada, you cannot claim a rebate of the GST/HST that you paid for purchases made in Canada. Visit the Government of Canada’s website for more information on whether your event qualifies for the FCTIP rebate!
The International Convention Attraction Fund (ICAF)
The International Convention Attraction Fund (ICAF) supports bids by Canadian cities to host major international conventions in Canada. The ICAF is funded by the Government of Canada and administered by Destination Canada. The ICAF:
- aims to bolster Canada’s global competitiveness in attracting major international conventions, conferences, and events to Canada
- offers support of up to $1 million per event for eligible Canadian destinations bidding to host major international business events
- is part of an overall $50 million investment by the Government of Canada for this purpose
